About Us

The movement Fridays for Future (FFF) protests on the streets to make people aware of the climate catastrophe!

The main message of FFF focuses almost exclusively on avoiding fossil fuels (coal, oil, gas) and CO2 emissions, which are undoubtedly important issues. However, the message excludes the current food system and its consequences on climate and the environment.

In December 2019 we launched the Free Food For Future (FFFF) initiative, or “Libre Food”, to also raise awareness about the importance of reforestation and wildlife habitat creation through tree-centered food production in food forests or forest gardens, which are designed, cultivated and operated by organized neighborhood groups of the civil society: “Community Food Forests“.

Food forests or forest gardens have several layers of vegetation. But in contrast to “regular” forests, food forests consist mainly of edible plants such as fruit and nut trees, berry bushes, perennial vegetables, herbs and (ideally) mushrooms. In addition, forest gardens naturally contribute to CO2 sequestration and thus to a better climate apart from so many other benefits they provide.
